With the playoffs underway, the boys’ soccer team sets its sights on rival Parkway Central.
“We’ve got a great team this year. Everybody has been working hard and staying focused all season. If we keep all of that up, we have a good chance to win districts,” junior Gavyn Prsha said.
The playoffs are a single game elimination. The Longhorns played Westminster in their first game, which they won 1-0 on a clutch game-winning header by Nicholas Klemm. The Colts played their first game against Priory, which they won 1-0. This sets the stage for a win or go home rivalry game.
“They’re going to be confident because they have already beaten us twice this season. But with the way we have been playing recently, we’re definitely going to put up a fight, and hopefully a win.” senior Tyler Rhoads said.
The Longhorns have proven that they know how win, outscoring their opponents 44-32 with a regular season record of 12-11-1.
“To win these games, we have to finish our scoring opportunities and we need to be playing hard the whole game,” sophomore Tucker Watts said.
The game is on Thursday at Westminster High School at 3:30 p.m.
