Former junior Cory Driver decided to drop out this summer, feeling disheartened with the school system. He now has more time to pursue other interests, such as going to trade school, building his “yaasified crust punk” band and working more hours at Qdoba. “Id been talking to my principal and my counselor since the middle of summer. Id keep trying to have conversations saying, ‘Hey, I want to drop out and get my GED.’ Every single time Id try to have [that] conversation, they did whatever they could to make sure that I didnt drop out [because] if I drop out, it makes the school look bad,” Driver said.

Junior Zachary Schade sits in front of his family christmas tree while studying for finals. Schade thought that having finals after winter break caused unnecessary stress which makes it harder to enjoy the holidays. “I think finals after break forces students to study instead of enjoying what should be time with their family [away] from school,” Schade said. “It places an unpleasant cloud over the holiday experience and doesn’t allow a break before the start of a new semester.”

Picking up trash from outside of the cafeteria, junior and co-leader of the club Zoe Rutledge participates in the first Campus Clean Up Day. Environmental Club hosted its first Campus Clean Up Day in September, with the goal of raising awareness about trash left behind by students. “[Sustainability] is important because it’s definitely a more pressing issue than before,” Rutledge said. “Its easier to get a bigger impact if you have an organized group whos dedicated to that.
