I am a senior, and this will be my second year on staff. The Pathfinder has helped me grow as a writer and push myself outside of my comfort zone. In school, I play field hockey, and I’m in a couple of clubs. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, along with reading and painting. I find joy in small moments with the people I care about and strive to use the confidence I have gained from writing in my day-to-day life.

Senior Lindsi Cook writes her name under her handprint as part of the senior hand wall. Students lined up to put their hands on the wall and were directed towards spots to place their handprints. Being able to see [the hand wall] finished [was my favorite part] because ever since I was a freshman its just been exciting to see other classes finish their wall, Cook said.

Sophomores Ben Gingrich, Nora Fredrick, Ryan Smith and Maddox Miller, sit in the library during Casey Hollands English 2 class. The students decorated cards for children in the hospital with supplies from the librarys Creative Commons craft corner. “I love to see [students] work on it. I love to see their creative side [because] I dont get to see that as much. I love to see their little hidden talents and what they create,” librarian Lauren Reusch said. “Everyone [is] just relaxing and enjoying themselves, able to sit back with their friends. I think that [relaxing is] a really important piece of the school day too.”

Juniors Dossan Bell and Brayden Gilmore participate in a mock trial. The trial took place as part of the final exam in Nancy Sachtlebens seventh hour Crime and Law class. My favorite thing about Mock trials was finding the little cracks in the defendant or prosecutor’s statements, Dossan said. I like this because I was able to totally unwind the opposite sides statement and by doing this I made a statement have no value and disproved it.

Senior Trisha Manna examines a flower while at a fairy-themed tea party that her friends decided to throw. Manna picked out the music they played for their party. “My favorite thing was the feeling of being there,” Manna said. “It kind of felt like it was a world away because we had school the next day [and] we were escaping from that.”

Junior Cameron Chandler walks to class at St. Louis Community College. Chandler first joined the program after a year of online school. “My mom was the one who really pushed me to do it. I think just trying new things [is a big benefit of the program] because in a normal, no COVID [situation, I don’t think that I would have joined],” Chandler said. “I was really looking into more opportunities because I had a lot of downtime thinking about where I was going, what the future held for me. I think just really taking advantage of all opportunities that are thrown at you [is important].”

Writing on a chalkboard, members of the Blue Brew staff and juniors Katie Evans and Julia Ligoure prepare for Blue Brew to reopen. Prior to reopening, the staff was trained in preparing coffee and taking payments. “My favorite thing about Blue Brew reopening is getting to work with friends and [being able to] see [and] help customers every morning,” Ligoure said. “I hope to gain some work and customer service skills [from working at Blue Brew].”
