Unwrapping the finished product, senior Triniti Cook admires the pumpkin pie she baked for Thanksgiving dinner. Cook went to her aunts house for Thanksgiving dinner. “My favorite part about making [the pie] was listening to Christmas music and singing as I made it. We do it every year and it gets me in the Christmas spirit,” Cook said. “I love this time of year, it makes me so happy and I get excited for the family gatherings and gifts.”

Neuwirth-Deutsch enjoyed making friends with his kitchen group and making jokes as they worked together. “I wanted to have an apron that showed who I was and some things I love. The camera is because I like photography, the remote controller is because I like video games, a spaceship because I love space and astronomy and dinosaurs because they are my favorite animals,” Neuwirth-Deutsch said.

Hitting the taco, senior Christian Frank hits a pinata in Human Anatomy and Physiology teacher Charlie Cutelli’s class to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos. After noticing pinatas on his desk, students of Cutelli’s decided to bring in candy and have a pinata fiesta during class. “We studied for a little bit and we did this for the rest of class. It was nice to relax since we have a test next Friday,” Frank said.

Abruptly pulled out of Honors English I for a surprise fire drill, freshman Samir Shaik kills time on the football field by having a thumb war with freshman Mya Jenkins. Shaik’s class was working on a research project before they were interrupted by the fire drill and took the moment to just relax and have fun. “Mya and I were goofing off, not really doing anything in particular. I was just having a lot of fun, and I’m glad [this moment] was captured,” Shaik said.

Focusing in, sophomore Brian Wright looks through the eyepiece of his microscope to observe a species of microorganisms. During Biology lab, Wright used a microscope to study the structure of a fungal cell and its similarities with plant cells which provides hints to evolution. ”It was amazing making connections about how we may have evolved from tiny single-cell organisms,” Wright said. “I found microscopes interesting because you can observe things that you can’t regularly see, and dive into the depths of our nature.”

The varsity soccer team beat Oakville 2-1. “It was really fun because there were a lot of people that Ive known since middle school,” Aiken-Guerrier said. “[We] had a different kind of connection than [I have with] other [students]...we tried to be the best people we could be.”

Sculpting a Day of the Dead project in Ceramics 1, sophomore Katie Wallace creates a mug out of her pinch pot. For the assignment, Wallace carved eyes, a nose and a mouth into her mug, and later painted it in bright colors to make it unique. “Getting to have social time, unwind and talk with my friends was my [favorite part of the] class,” Wallace said. “I also liked getting to hone my creativity and get my hands dirty.”
