What makes your style unique?

“I wear a lot of button-down shirts and jeans normally. My students will often say I wear ‘graph paper shirts’ because I’m a math teacher and I have a lot of checked shirts.”

How has virtual school changed your style?

“Covid has pretty much allowed me to switch to ‘comfy pants’, which is maybe the only perk of this blighted year. I still try to wear a nice shirt or sweater on top and I put something in my hair every day. Students want to see teachers who look like they are professional.”

How does your style match your personality?

“I tend to dress like a little bit of a nerd. I think that suits me.”

How does your outfit affect the way you act?

“I like that I can change my outfit at home if I’m warm or cold. That wasn’t an option at school, so I really learned how to layer. The very first day of quarantine, I wore a nice pair of pants, a button-down, and a sweater. It made teaching from home feel like a job, which it is, and important, which it is. I’m glad that I can still look professional while also being comfortable.”

What fashion advice would you give your peers?

“If you wear a sweater over a dress shirt, you really only need to iron the collar.”
