Why do we still need Black History Month?

Black History Month is celebrated every February as an homage to the contributions of African Americans who have shaped American history. This celebration was started in 1915 by historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans leaders not only to celebrate achievements of African Americans, but to push for their recognition as equal citizens. In 2020, why is Black History Month still important? Watch this video to understand why knowing Black history is valuable and essential to our society.
