SCORING GUIDE

Each bathroom can earn up to 50 points, for a total of 100 when the pair of bathrooms is added together. Each category is worth up to 10 points.

Cleanliness – Is the mirror clean? Are there paper towels on the ground? How clean are the toilets? Is anything in the sinks?

Art/Aesthetic – Any decorations? Are the stalls painted? Any funny graffiti?

Smell – Literally—how bad does it smell?

Busy – How busy is the location? Does it get cramped during passing periods?

Location – How close is the bathroom to classes? Does it have a wide area of effect?

Art Hallway

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 6/10

Art: 6/10

Smell: 8/10

Busy: 8/10

Location: 8/10

Total: 36/50

Located next to the art foyer and the English halls, the Art Hallway bathroom is a chill and convenient place. It is not busy and definitely a more private bathroom than others, except some of the English teachers do pop in. The bathroom itself is bland, with a basic white and blue theme, but a distinct feature of this boys bathroom is the giant brown stain from the leaking hole in the ceiling. Beware.

Women’s restroom

Cleanliness: 4/10

Art: 0/10

Smell: 5/10

Busy: 3/10

Location: 9/10

Total: 21/50

Although this restroom is one of the more conveniently placed pit stops, it usually has a lengthy line to stand in, making it the busiest and most crowded option. I hate waiting in a line to use the restroom because you have to sit on the toilet seat right after someone else, and it is always warm. Not to mention, there are pieces of paper towels scattered all over the floor from the constant stampede of people coming in and out.

Foreign Language/English

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 5/10

Art: 8/10

Smell: 7/10

Busy: 4/10

Location: 8/10

Total: 35/50

Imagine a dirty, dark and grimy gray theme. Yup, that’s the foreign language bathroom. But contrasting with the theme, the aroma in the bathroom is a sweet and fruity smell. Sometimes, it is a minty smell, spearing your olfactory system. The bathroom is usually busy with groups of five or six all huddled by the sinks. Sometimes, it gets so crowded that five kids are in one stall, participating in the new Cloud Club! If you’re lucky with your timing, you will be able to find an empty space.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 6/10

Art: 8/10

Smell: 5/10

Busy: 2/10

Location: 7/10

Total: 28/50

The art inside this restroom is welcoming and the lighting is on point. This is a good bathroom to socialize in, since it is on the third floor and is close to the senior lounge. Occasionally, there will be a low supply of paper towels or toilet paper in the stalls. People are usually seen walking in groups to this restroom; don’t walk in alone or you might look lame.

Social Studies

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 7/10

Art: 5/10

Smell: 8/10

Busy: 8/10

Location: 7/10

Total: 35/50

The social studies bathroom is perfect for ghost hunting. However, this one is more of an ominous lighting. It’s almost like a ghost roams in that purple themed bathroom. Luckily, it doesn’t smell like anything and it is pretty convenient if you are in a social studies class. I think the school should hire an exorcist because they need to do some purification for this bathroom.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 5/10

Art: 2/10

Smell: 6/10

Busy: 4/10

Location: 6/10

Total: 23/50

As one of the more spacious restrooms, this spot has a lot of places to rest bags and clutter while you use the toilet or fix your hair in the mirrors. The art in the bathroom could improve since it is simple, but the light shade of purple that decorates the room gives it a positive and relaxing vibe. When I was bored in history, I would make occasional trips to this escape-room and sit on the toilet. A sofa would’ve made the experience better though.

2nd Floor

Nurse’s Office:

Cleanliness: 9/10

Art: 3/10

Smell: 8/10

Busy: 10/10

Location: 4/10

Total: 34/50

This bathroom is a rare occurrence, exclusive to only those who are sick or “sick.” The room smells sterile and it is clean despite the infected utilizing the bathroom. However, nothing really pops in the room. It is just a normal white theme. I wouldn’t recommend using it unless you need to vomit up whatever “tacos” you got in the lunch line.

Main Entrance

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 7/10

Art: 6/10

Smell: 7/10

Busy: 7/10

Location: 8/10

Total: 35/50

Potentially the best men’s restroom. The school obviously wants to leave a good impression for visitors as this is the most updated and frequently cleaned of the school’s bathroom roster. It’s located in a spot reasonably accessible by most and yet it remains one of the lesser used bathrooms. For being such a premier restroom though, its art is a little bland. Clean logos and slogans are a nice touch, but the room lacks the expression and color that other bathrooms offer.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 7/10

Art: 0/10

Smell: 8/10

Busy: 5/10

Location: 10/10

Total: 30/50

This restroom is relatively clean for being super busy and located right in front of the main entrance; it also has a nice bench in front of the mirror where you can sit and wait for your friends to squad up with you. Personally, I think the bench would be more useful if people took turns taking a nap on it, but the bench isn’t long enough for your legs to be completely stretched out. Compared to most of the restrooms, this one is one of the few that seems like it has a working ventilation system so it smells fresher.

FACS/Business

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 5/10

Art: 8/10

Smell: 8/10

Busy: 4/10

Location: 8/10

Total: 33/50

This bathroom takes the cake for convenient location. Nestled next to one of the busiest hallways, on the middle floor, next to one of the busiest stairwells and intersections, this bathroom definitely gets its traffic cut. Be prepared to face some crowds. However, the restroom does have some great art, a non intrusive scent, and for the amount of foot traffic, not too dirty either.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 6/10

Art: 1/10

Smell: 7/10

Busy: 6/10

Location: 4/10

Total: 24/50

Normally, this restroom is pretty barren and empty during class periods but it has a good amount of people flow in and out during passing periods. Definitely not the best restroom for chatting or socializing, but it serves its purpose and it’s cleaner than most restrooms in the school. I’d say this restroom is one of those that you use if it’s an emergency or you need to use the restroom after lunch. Being located near some FACS classes is a plus because whatever they are cooking—or burning—usually floats around the halls and into this restroom, so if you’re a foodie and like to smell food then I recommend using this restroom.

Math

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 7/10

Art: 6/10

Smell: 4/10

Busy: 5/10

Location: 5/10

Total: 27/50

I have to give credit where credit is due. The art in this bathroom is creative and interesting, despite often making your eyes roll harder than hearing a dad joke. But the art isn’t going to save the cramped quarters and piercing smell of the math hallway bathroom. Even though it’s not the dirtiest spot in the building, the crowds are the final nail in the coffin for my recommendation: best to keep walking and go to the FACS hallway bathroom.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 7/10

Art: 7/10

Smell: 4/10

Busy: 4/10

Location: 6/10

Total: 28/50

Let’s be honest: using the bathroom during a math class is a horrible idea. Chances are, you are missing a whole lesson in the span of five minutes when you’re in the restroom, and that is dangerous. This restroom isn’t even that nice, since it almost always smells like dirty socks and the stalls have random dirt stains all over it. Maybe I’m biased and think I like math more than my own bodily health, but don’t waste your time for this restroom. But also… don’t waste your pants and if you have to go, miss the lesson and use Mathway to learn it.

North Gym

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 7/10

Art: 7/10

Smell: 6/10

Busy: 9.5/10

Location: 2/10

Total: 31.5/50

Welcome to the most seldom used restroom in the school, second only to the theater hallway. This is a great place to catch some privacy, but get ready to take a hike for it, because unless you’ve got a gym class this is probably one of the most inconveniently located bathrooms in the building. It does feature bright artwork and an interesting back-to-back urinal design though. Points for shaking up the formula!

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 9/10

Art: 7/10

Smell: 9/10

Busy: 8/10

Location: 2/10

Total: 35/50

This restroom is HUGE! I love how spacious and long the design is. The lighting is somewhat dim, but it has so many stalls for multiple people to use and the Longhorn vibe just pops out and screams ‘West is Best!’ Although it is tucked away in a corner that is unreachable to many classes and students, this restroom is useful during home games and grand events held at our school. Normally, the air conditioning feels like it isn’t available over on this side of the school, so I’d recommend bringing a jacket or dressing accordingly to the extremities of the weather when using this restroom.

1st Floor

Cafe

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 7/10

Art: 7/10

Smell: 6/10

Busy: 3/10

Location: 8/10

Total: 31/50

Convenient location? Check. Colorful art? You got it. Clean and refreshing? Mostly. This bathroom fits the bill for its hotspot location, and its rather spacious interior helps to handle the sometimes crushing crowds that manage to fill it around lunch time. Unfortunately, the lighting is dim and the atmosphere is rather dark, which doesn’t make for an inviting bathroom experience.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 4/10

Art: 0/10

Smell: 3/10

Busy: 3/10

Location: 9/10

Total: 19/50

This restroom does its job and it doesn’t do more or less. It is conveniently placed right near the cafeteria, and it has decent lighting and space inside. This restroom is expected to be a little busy since students are supposed to use their lunch time and passing periods for restroom breaks. However, make sure you don’t put your stuff on the ground because usually there is water all over the floor from the sink and it will ruin your stuff with dirty ground water. The cleanliness could improve along with the smell in this restroom, but due to its popularity and traffic, it’s almost impossible to keep it consistently clean.

Music

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 8/10

Art: 6/10

Smell: 9/10

Busy: 7/10

Location: 5/10

Total: 35/50

If you’re not looking carefully, you might miss this inconspicuous restroom. This is a rather bland restroom, surprisingly clean, and it features tasteful art reflecting the bathroom’s location. The real gem of this restroom though is the smell. Thanks to the school crowdsourcing air fresheners to Juuls, you can always expect a pleasant aroma of mango or cool mint upon entering.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 6/10

Art: 9/10

Smell: 4/10

Busy: 5/10

Location: 5/10

Total: 29/50

The decor and art in this restroom is by far the best. I love how the music notes and ~aesthetic~ matches the area its in and the music hallway. It adds a nice touch and brings the overall music-connoisseur concept into play. The lighting is pretty dim, and I think it would appear more upbeat than edgy if the light fixtures were adjusted. The coolest people tend to use this restroom too, and it is heavily convenient to the other handful of neglected science classes that are located far away from the main science restroom.

Science

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 7/10

Art: 0/10

Smell: 5/10

Busy: 5/10

Location: 4/10

Total: 21/50

If there is a bathroom to avoid in this building, this is probably the one. Dirty, drab, inconvenient, and over crowded. With no art or posters, the only splashes of color in this all grey restroom are the blue recycling bin and the orange door stop. This cramped space and inconvenient location of this pit stop makes it a nightmare to navigate during passing periods as well.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 3/10

Art: 1/10

Smell: 1/10

Busy: 3/10

Location: 5/10

Total: 13/50

To say the least, I do not like the restroom at all. It is one of the stinkiest restrooms, and most of the time, there is horrible air ventilation and bad traffic. Sure, it is a good location for some of the science classes and it is on the way to the pit for those who park down there. Unfortunately, it smells so bad that if I was down on the first floor and I needed to use the restroom, I would be more willing to walk a few steps through the breeze way to go to the other women’s restroom near the cafeteria than use the dumpster bathroom in the science hallway. Not to mention, it is only useful to a small portion of science classes.

Theater

Men’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 8/10

Art: 0/10

Smell: 9/10

Busy: 9/10

Location: 2/10

Total: 28/50

Similar to the water fountain in this area, this bathroom is secluded and outdated. This does come with a few genuine perks though: it’s hardly in use, especially during class, and it has two mirrors. The double mirrors is perfect for fine tuning that perfect hairdo before strutting into your next class, and the small crowd prevents you from looking like a doofus for staring at yourself for so long.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 6/10

Art: 9/10

Smell: 4/10

Busy: 9/10

Location: 5/10

Total: 33/50

Some people have never ventured down this far and low in our school to ever enter into this restroom. However, for the many people who participate in theater or debate classes and clubs after school, this safe haven is a lifesaver. Not only is this the only secluded place where you can find your sanity after your countless hours of prepping for a show, but you can also cleanse those last minute stage fears before your performance! For its high convenience, welcoming members, tacky but quirky artwork and spacious setup, this restroom is one of the top notch locations in our school.

Locker rooms:

Men’s restroom:

Smell: 3/10

Busy: 8/10

Location: 4/10

Total: 27/50

Before you work out, consider using this restroom. To my surprise, the bathroom was normal. It isn’t aesthetically pleasing,  but it gets the job done. It is not completely dirty like a gas station bathroom. It is still an upgrade, but the smell is definitely similar. It is so pungent and devastating to my lungs. Hold your breath for this one folks. It is going to be a smelly ride.

Women’s restroom:

Cleanliness: 10

Art: 1/10

Smell: 8/10

Busy: 8/10

Location: 6/10

Total: 31/50

As one of my favorite restroom spots in the school; the cleanliness and spaciousness is a major plus compared to the other restroom spots around. Although it is downstairs and tucked in a corner towards the gym rooms, it has so much space and it is extremely convenient for athletes and students who participate in P.E. classes.
