During a 15 day summer excursion, students will face total immersion into the French culture.

Participants will tour Paris for five days and then attend a sister school, L’institution Sainte Jeanne d’Arc, in Aix en Provence for 10 days.

“It will allow us to sightsee most of the touristic attractions. La tour eiffel, le louvre, les invalides and la place de la concorde” French teacher Nablia Harig said.

French II students are usually not permitted to attend, however, Harig is allowing younger students to enroll this year.

“We already have a group of six students committed to travel this summer and I think we will open the trip to French II [students] as our school sister is ready to host a lot of students,” Harig said.

Harig is hosting a meeting to familiarize students and their parents with trip details on Thursday, Oct. 27 in room 3302 at 5:30 p.m.

“I will discuss all the details involved with International travel. From papers needed, to the expenses, the places we’ll be everyday and the field trip we will be taking while being hosted,” Harig said.

While in Aix en Provence, students will stay with host families, and will shadow their French students at their school. In addition, every other day students will meet up and go on a field trip around the town.

“They will experience a real living situation with a real French family.” Harig said. “It is an excellent opportunity and a unique experience for all students.”

For Harig, French is not just the subject she teaches, it is also a lifetime of memories and experiences.

“It is my everything, my childhood, my passion, my work, my bread and butter,” Harig said.
