BSenior third basemen Grant Brueggenjohann is among the area leaders in overall hitting. Brueggenjohann has a .455 batting average to go along with three home runs and nine doubles on the season.
I really changed my approach at the plate. I’ve been trying to hit everything back up the middle and it has really helped me stay discipline,” Brueggenjohann said.
Brueggenjohann is leading the team in hits (30) and in RBI’s (16). Each one of his home runs have came against powerhouse area programs such as CBC, Parkway South and Kirkwood.
“I’m really seeing the ball well. Our new hitting coach really helped me with my swing in the off season, I feel a lot more comfortable at the plate compared to last year,” Brueggenjohann said.
Brueggenjohann will continue his playing career in the fall at Rend Lake, a junior college in Southern Illinois.
“Rend Lake is the perfect school for me. It is a junior college so I’m planning on playing there for a few years and then will most likely try to transfer to either a D2 or D1 baseball school,” Brueggenjohann said.
In the off season, Brueggenjohann plays for the St. Louis Gamers, a travel baseball team located out of Crestwood.
“I put a lot of hard work and preparation this off season. I’m really happy I’ve been able to contribute for the team in a big way so far this year,” Brueggenjohann said.
Brueggenjohann has 10 stolen bases to go along with his batting number.
“This summer I’m going to work really hard to get stronger. That’s the one area of the game where you can always work on,” Brueggenjohann said.
