Longhorn football aims to continue making history

Parkway West looks to become district champions this Friday night against Fort Zumwalt South.

With the sixth seeded Longhorns upsetting the second seeded North on Friday, Oct. 30 19-14, they go on to the district championship where they will be playing the undefeated Fort Zumwalt South (13-0).

“They are definitely a beatable team, even though their record doesn’t reflect this, the teams they have been playing aren’t even close to the level our team is playing at in districts,” senior Nick Lewis said.

With the Longhorns creating a lot of confidence and momentum throughout the district run, they  contribute  their success to their ability to force turnovers.

“Turnovers have been a key attribute for us in districts . I think it is one of the biggest reasons we are where we are right now, playing to be district champions. If we can continue this trend coming into our game this week against Fort Zumwalt South, I think we have a very good chance to come out on top,” senior Evan Shukers said.

This week’s game will be played on Friday night with a kickoff time of 7 p.m. at Fort Zumwalt South.
