Festival Frenzy

This year’s music festivals are looking to be better than ever before.

While most of the country is currently in an Arctic snap, music lovers and festival goers anticipate the the first day of Spring, which signals the start of the music festival frenzy in the the upcoming Spring/Summer season.

The first big name festival is Ultra Music, which released its setlist on Jan. 7. Priced at $149.95 for a full weekend pass the early bird tickets were gone within just four minutes. A technical blip with the ticketing servers caused early bird tickets to be re-issued at 4:30 p.m., and sold out in less than five minutes. There was no surprise that the tickets sold out within minutes due to the jaw-dropping set list of 50+ world renown DJ’s that have performed on stages around the world like Skrillex, Avicii and Afrojack, all of whom have a large fan base. With the production value rumored to have increased, the stages will be bigger, brighter and better than ever before.

The other upcoming talked-about festival is the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, ranging from hardcore hip-hop to the softest of indie music. For two weekends in late April fans will gather in Indio, CA for the festival. The setlist and festival dates were released  Jan. 1 at 10 a.m. Weekend One passes were sold out about an hour later and Weekend Two passes sold out around 1:20 p.m. Fans were most excited about the setlist, making it a trending topic on Twitter hours after it was released. With unique and genre clashing A-list artists such as Drake, Ab-Soul, Tyler the Creator, AC/DC, Alvin Risk and David Guetta, Coachella has set the bar for music festivals, leaving fans eager to see what other music festivals have to offer in the upcoming season.
