Sophomore Tabatha Saake is reaching her goals from inside the net. This season she is being awarded with the first team All Conference Award for goalie, an award given to the best player in the conference for a position.

“I worked really hard at practice and at games to win this award and I think I deserve it,” Saake said. “Lacrosse has opened many opportunities in my life and has created many friendships.”

Along with playing varsity, Saake plays on two select teams MO22 and Brave. Saake was scouted to play on MO22 without an actual tryout. A referee at one of the West games recommended her to the coach and she was scouted at one of the games.

“Playing on three different teams has built me up as a goalie because I am playing with many different players with different skill levels. I love the action of the sport and all the challenges that come with being a goalie,” Saake said.

Her first year playing lacrosse was last year when she was recommended by her family and friends to try out.

“When I started playing as a freshman, I fell in love with the sport. One of my favorite things about lacrosse is bonding with my teammates through our love of lacrosse and the hard work we all put out,” Saake said.

Saake accredits her passion for lacrosse to her teammates.

“My teammates are amazing. They help influence me to push myself and they challenge me,” Saake said.

After high school, Saake plans to continue her career in lacrosse.

“I hope to carry on my career in college, and hopefully I will get a scholarship, and then I want to pass on my knowledge for lacrosse to others,” Saake said.
