You ain’t seen stuffing yet

Thanksgiving is when families and friends gather to show their gratitude for each other. However, every family celebrates in unique ways, often beyond the stereotypical turkey and stuffing. Read on to learn about some of our student’s untraditional traditions.
Unwrapping the finished product, senior Triniti Cook admires the pumpkin pie she baked for Thanksgiving dinner. Cook went to her aunts house for Thanksgiving dinner. “My favorite part about making [the pie] was listening to Christmas music and singing as I made it. We do it every year and it gets me in the Christmas spirit,” Cook said. “I love this time of year, it makes me so happy and I get excited for the family gatherings and gifts.”

FaceTiming her grandma who lives in Las Vegas, senior Eva Phillips and her father celebrate Thanksgiving virtually on Nov. 26. Normally, Phillips and her family would have the annual feast with extended family; but, due to the pandemic this year, they decided to stay home and celebrate over the internet. “It was calm. I liked the quiet of it,” Phillips said. “I almost liked it more than doing a huge Thanksgiving. I dont know if Id call it the full Thanksgiving experience, but I still enjoyed it.”
