I love our theatre department! Everyone really does their part to make our productions amazing. Along with Mr. Body, Guccione has been in Rumplestiltskin and the Senior Directed One Acts. “I love our theatre department! Everyone really does their part to make our productions amazing. Mrs. Gossett is really good about making every single kid feel welcome and the whole department has a very relaxed and fun feeling that makes every minute of the long rehearsals fun,” Guccione said.

Making newcomers feel welcome and bringing the current members closer together, junior Joe Guccione is the glue of the theatre department.

“I really like theatre because it’s really fun to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and to become someone else for a couple hours. I think theatre is a lot like dress up for adults! Who wouldn’t want to be able to get rid of all your insecurities and become someone else. I also really like how theatre pulls such a reaction out of the audience, it’s really cool to be able to transform yourself into a different character and make the audience feel things they might not have been expecting to feel,” Guccione said.

Along with being a good influence on the theatre department, Guccione works to make the school a better place as well. He is an active member in the National Honors Society, the Safe and Drug Free Council, Safe and Drug Free Superstars, Nuevos Amigos, Choir, High School Heroes, The Superintendent’s Social Justice League Advisory and Spanish Club.

“West is an awesome school because there are a lot of different groups of people so anyone can feel welcome, the teachers and administrators are also really willing to help students as much as they can, and the atmosphere is really friendly so it’s not hard at all to meet awesome people or make friends. I try to make our school a better place by getting involved as much as I can, and being friendly to everyone I see. I also do what I can to make West a place were everyone feels welcome and comfortable,” Guccione said.

Along with being passionate about theatre, Guccione is interested in subjects such as science, Spanish and history. After high school, he plans on going to college to find a career that reflects his interests.

“I really want to be an actor when I get older, but in college I want to double major/major-minor combination of Forensics, Anthropology and Crime Scene Investigation. I really like history, biology, chemistry and science in general. I’ve always been interested in crime shows like CSI and Bones, so I think a job in this field would be really cool,” Guccione said.
