The Cheerleading squad started off the season at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Camp in July. The camp was held at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. There, they took first in the Extreme Routine Competition and second in the cheer competition. Senior Captain Alexa Emerson and junior Kenzie Conning were named All-Americans. In addition to taking first and second in competitions, the West team also won the coveted banana award. This award is given to one team from the camp for sportsmanship and spirit.

“The season is going swimmingly. The Homecoming routine was a success, and everyone had a lot of fun,” A. Emerson said.

The girls are working on new cheers and maintaining the quality of the old ones.  The teams relationship with each other helps them work well during performances.

“One of our strengths is that we’re really close as a team,” A. Emerson said.
